蕭美琴為現任(2024-2028)台灣副總統，曾任台灣駐美代表、民進黨國際事務部主任及4屆任期的立法委員。
2006年擔任立法委員期間，是台灣首位在立法院提出同志婚姻法的政治人物，當時雖然未能順利通過，但仍為台灣婚姻平權奠下重要根基。
2024年因「串串」(threads)限制政治發文，網友突發奇想以食物作為各類政治人物的代稱，如「貝果」為蔡英文前總統的稱呼，而蕭美琴副總統則因曾在花蓮用鐮刀割玉米，故以玉米作為代稱。
Profile
Hsiao Bi-khim is the current Vice President of Taiwan (2024–2028). She previously served as Taiwan’s Representative to the United States, Director of the International Affairs Department of the Democratic Progressive Party, and completed four terms as a legislator.
In 2006, during her tenure as a legislator, she became the first politician in Taiwan to introduce a same-sex marriage bill in the Legislative Yuan. Although the bill did not pass at the time, it laid an important foundation for the advancement of marriage equality in Taiwan.
In 2024, due to restrictions on political content posted on Threads, netizens creatively began using food items as nicknames for various political figures. For example, “bagel” became a playful reference to former President Tsai Ing-wen. Vice President Hsiao, who was once photographed harvesting corn with a sickle in Hualien, came to be nicknamed “corn.”

蕭美琴（シャオ・メイチン）は現職（2024年〜2028年）の台湾副総統。これまでに台湾の駐米代表（大使に相当）、民主進歩党国際事務部主任、そして通算4期の立法委員（国会議員）を歴任してきた。
2006年、立法委員在任中に、蕭美琴は台湾の国会で初めて同性婚草案を提出した政治家となった。当時は惜しくも可決には至らなかったものの、台湾における婚姻平等の重要な礎を築いた。
2024年、Threadsで政治的な投稿が制限されたことを受け、台湾のユーザーの間でユーモアを交えて政治家を食べ物で呼ぶ動きが生まれた。例えば、蔡英文前総統は「ベーグル」と呼ばれ、蕭美琴副総統は、かつて選挙区であった花蓮で鎌でトウモロコシを収穫したエピソードにちなみ「トウモロコシ」という愛称で呼ばれている。
