From "Rainbow Heaven" to "Taichung GDi"
In 2010, we planted our roots in the Yizhong Shopping District under the name "Rainbow Heaven" Community Center. In 2012, we were forced to relocate due to a lack of community acceptance; however, this experience only made us more resilient. After moving, we renamed the center "Taichung GDi." In 2013, we officially established a national social welfare organization, the "Taiwan GDi Association," which continues to operate the "Taichung GDi" community center today.
Helping Everyone Piece Together Their Whole Self
In an era when the environment was not yet friendly enough, GDi provided a comfortable and safe space for the LGBTQ+ community. We aim to walk alongside every individual, helping them rediscover their most authentic selves beyond societal frameworks. Simultaneously, through education and advocacy, we maintain a dialogue with the public and speak up for key issues, hoping society can learn to be gentle and embrace everyone.
Today, our services cover LGBTQ+ individuals and their "significant others"—including parents, friends, partners, and professionals. In addition to operating our community center, our professional staff provides various forms of support and assistance. In the face of social pressure, we are here to face difficulties with you, helping you find your most comfortable lifestyle and gradually piece together your true, complete self.
