Miao-ba and Wei-ba are a gay couple who, after adopting their child Rou-Rou, built a loving and responsible family together. Their household challenges traditional notions of parenthood, showing that the essence of parenting lies not in gender but in unconditional care and presence.
They were the first family to publicly advocate for adoption rights for same-sex couples following the legalization of marriage equality in Taiwan, confronting legal and societal biases and successfully contributing to reforms in the country’s LGBTQ+ adoption laws.
Miao-ba and Wei-ba openly share moments from their parenting journey and participate in advocacy for gender and parental equality, helping the public understand the everyday realities of queer families. From embracing their child’s smiles to facing societal prejudice, they respond with love, allowing this warmth to ripple through society.
